Newcomers to Dreamwidth

People are reporting Tumblr outages. Given the recent layoffs of staff, this is hardly a surprise. It is inspiring some Tumblr users to seek other platforms.

There are various services used to track outages of online services and platforms. You can use these or similar ones to check if Tumbler is up or down and to report outages you experience.  Pass the word so other folks can track this too.

Cohost is closing and will disappear completely at the end of December.  If you have not yet finished backing up everything you want to save from that platform, you have just a few days left to do that.

Find fellow chosters here or look for them in communities like eggbug_club or the terrific prompting community eggbug_writes.

onlyknownothing has pointed out that the Wayback Machine is down. Read more about the problem here. While this is among the most popular archives, it is not the only one. When it comes to data backups, more is better. Explore different archive sites, because they do things differently -- what won't save on one usually will save on another. When one is down, others are probably still up. Here are some options...
